Bastion

The fortified corner of your holding: whoever attacks you, wall or no wall, meets a stronger defense.

At the wall's most exposed corner, a jutting rampart filled with earth and faced with stone. From the bastion's loopholes the enemy is met from the flank; arrows and stones come from where no one expects them.

The bastion is the holding's fist. Every army that nears the gate learns there that the defender is far better prepared than it thought.
