Shipyard

Lets you build boats, and as it grows each boat carries more troops.

The smell of tar, the ring of hammers, the cry of gulls on the shore. Keels rise on the slipways, ribs settle into place one by one, and caulkers pack the seams with pitch. On the day a boat goes into the water, the whole holding comes down to the shore.

Most of the map is sea, and the sea belongs to those who prepare for it. For a holding with a shipyard, the waters are not a border but a road.

  • Galley fleet: Chosen at level 11. Your boats carry half again as many troops; you reach an altar at sea with the same army and fewer boats.
  • Merchant fleet: Chosen at level 11. Trades on the world market yield a fifth more: the road toll shrinks.
  • Built here: Boat
