Raids can't break your build queue, the altars you hold are better defended, and you get a short warning of every incoming raid.

At the very edge of the border, where the wind blows hardest, a tower stands alone. The soldiers of the watchtower watch the road, the pass, the far columns of smoke. They say little and see much.

The watchtower is the holding's eye. The footfall of an approaching raid reaches their ears first, and only then the holding's gate.
