Quests
Quests in Otenos track and reward the things you already do in the game: upgrading a building, holding an altar, placing a bid. You don't need to do anything extra; a quest completes as soon as its goal is met, and you collect the reward with Claim. Quests reward resources and Tender.
Quest types
| Type | How many | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Path | One at a time, in order | No time limit |
| Today | 3 | Hours: 24 |
| This week | 2 | Hours: 168 |
| Feats | The next step on each track | No time limit |
| Up next | 1 | No time limit |
The types are the tabs of the Quests panel; the Up next quest sits at the top of the panel.
- Today and This week quests count down from the moment you joined the world, not from midnight. When the time runs out, any unclaimed reward goes with it.
- Path and Feats rewards wait until you claim them.
- The Up next quest looks at your holding as it stands right now: if your queue is empty, it suggests the building for the resource you need most; if your army is small, training spearmen; if you have no altar, holding one.
Rewards
Every quest's reward grows with its difficulty and is shown on the quest card:
| Difficulty | Resources (each) | Tender |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 150 | 5 |
| Medium | 350 | 10 |
| Hard | 800 | 20 |
| Epic | 1,500 | 40 |
| Adaptive quest | 150 | 5 |
- A resource reward is added to each of the four resources separately.
- The reward lands in your main holding and is added regardless of your storehouse cap.
- Tender is the currency of the auction (Auction and Tender).
Path quests
Path quests walk a new commander through every door of the game, one after another:
- Upgrade your Sawmill.
- Give your holding a name.
- Upgrade your Storehouse.
- Build Barracks.
- Train your first spearmen.
- Hold an altar.
- Place a bid.
- Place a deed in your holding.
- Choose a specialization.
- Build a Market.
- Make a trade at the world market.
- Post or take an order at the player market.
- Join an alliance.
- Win a raid.
- Found your second holding.
- Send resources between your holdings.
Today and This week
For each window, Today and This week quests are drawn from a pool: placing bids, winning raids, making trades, sending resources, holding altars, training troops, placing deeds and more. The same quest never comes up twice in the same window.
Feats
Feats are tracks that run the length of the Age; finish one step on a track and the next one opens:
- Your tallest building
- The troops you've sent into battle
- The altars you hold at the same time
- The deeds you've placed
- The raids you've won
- The specializations you've chosen
- Your responses in the response window
- The marches you've intercepted
- Your trades at the player market
- Diplomacy
- The holdings you've conquered
