These terms set out what we promise you and what we expect from you when you play Otenos. By creating an account you accept these terms; we keep the version you accepted, and when you accepted it, on your account.
The game
Otenos is a free strategy game played in your browser and on your phone. The game runs in Ages: each Age opens with a new map, and at its end holdings, armies, resources and Tender are reset. Your account, titles, chronicle, Lumen and ornaments stay with you from Age to Age.
We keep developing the game. Rules, numbers and content may change in new Ages. We touch the rules of an Age in progress only to fix a bug or a broken balance.
Your account
One person, one account. Your account is yours; you may not transfer, sell or share it. Your email address must belong to you: it is the way to recover your account. Keeping your password safe is up to you; everything done on your account counts as your move.
Your name is visible to everyone. We may change names that impersonate someone else, insult or carry hate speech; the same goes for holding and alliance names.
Fair play
Everyone plays by the same rules, and that is the game itself. The following are prohibited:
Benefiting from linked accounts. Two people playing from the same home is allowed; what is prohibited is accounts supplying each other with resources, loot or fake competition at the auction. Playing a second account for your own benefit also falls into this category.
Software that plays the game for you. You give the orders; no auto clickers, scripts or tools that bypass the game's interface.
Exploiting bugs. If you find a flaw, write to us instead of using it; knowingly exploiting a flaw counts as cheating.
When the rules are broken
A suspicion is reviewed by a person; no automated system decides on its own. Depending on the case, we may issue a warning, apply restrictions, suspend the account for a period or close it. Rankings, titles and deeds won by cheating may be taken back.
Lumen and purchases
Lumen is the store's currency and buys cosmetics only: heraldic ornaments, holding scenes, map papers, chronicle bindings. It changes nothing in battle, at the auction or in the rankings. Lumen is not real money; it cannot be cashed out, moved to another account or turned into Tender.
To make a purchase you must be over 18 or have your parent's or guardian's permission; you declare this separately at checkout. Lumen is credited to your account the moment the payment is confirmed. Because digital content is delivered immediately, your right of withdrawal ends on delivery, with the consent you give on the payment page. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time: Settings → Account. Your Lumen and ornaments go with your account; they cannot be restored. You can download your data before deleting. The details are in the Privacy and data text.
The service
We work to keep the game running without interruption or errors, but there may be maintenance, outages or a world closing. As long as you do not break the rules, we will not close your account arbitrarily.
Changes
If this text changes, its date and version change too. We announce a significant change in the game and ask you to accept the new version.
